Sometimes the journey is more important than the destination. The past two Forest school weeks have been LONG walks to Carpenter woods. The neighborhood is explored and yes, walking with 5,6 and 7 year olds does take forever.. especially when you stop to admire a cat in a drive way, construction workers and impressive machinery at work, or brilliant trees in the height of their colors. We didn't expect to find a "pirates treasure chest" in the middle of the side walk, or make friends with many a kind dog. That's what usually happens when you walk with a group of 12 children to Carpenter woods, they never fail to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary!
